Maria Celeste H. Cadiz, PhD, is a senior communication and knowledge management (KM) in development specialist with 12 years’ experience as knowledge management in development lead in a regional organization serving the 10 ASEAN nations and a Pacific island country and over 20 years’ professional experience in teaching and practicing development communication, eight of these in academic leadership positions/roles. Her consultancies vary and draw on her competencies as a KM strategy developer, formally trained development journalist/science writer, seasoned technical editor, educational communication and capacity development specialist, knowledge product developer, academic administrator, and research/development writer and adviser. She specialized in participatory approaches in development, personal construct theory, and qualitative approaches to communication and is an experienced trainer/mentor. Her former long-term employers include the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) as faculty member in development communication from 1978 to 2008 and eventually as first devcom college dean in 1999-2006; and Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) from 2006 to 2018. She has engaged in projects or consultancies with the Asian Development Bank in Manila, International Development Research Center of Canada, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and Philippine government agencies, among others. She earned her PhD from Macquarie University in Australia in 1993; her MS in 1985 and BS (first BSDC cum laude and Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas devcom student awardee) in 1978, both from UPLB, all in development communication.
