Hiroshi Taniguchi
Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Information and Communication Studies
After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, Hiroshi spent 11 years teaching at a public junior high and high school in Japan while coaching local volleyball teams. He then served as an assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team at the University of Alberta in Canada. He founded Digital Language School to give more people access to Japanese language education. He uses teaching techniques from Japan that he has acquired throughout years of experience in the classroom. Specifically, he has used 3D virtual tour and animation creation software to produce educational materials centered around immersive learning. This enables students, even when they are physically elsewhere, to see Japan more authentically through virtual tours. He currently assists in the development of a certificate program for Japanese language instructors and a physical education course on Japanese mixed volleyball in the Philippines and co-teaches a few courses in digital communication.
