COURSE DESCRIPTION: Theoretical and conceptual foundations in communication

PREREQUISITE: None

COURSE GOAL: This course aims to provide students with the foundations of communication research through an understanding of the basic assumptions, concepts and approaches to communication research.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  • demonstrate a deeper understanding and appreciation of communication as a field of research;
  • differentiate the major paradigms of communication research; and 
  • explain the concepts for evaluating communication research
