Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) Professor Diego S. Maranan served as a judge in the Resilience Reels Video Competition during the 11th ASEAN+3 Junior Science Odyssey (APTJSO) held from 5 to 11 July 2026 at the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone (CFEZ), Pampanga.

Hosted by the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS), the annual event brought together gifted young scientists aged 13 to 15 from ASEAN Member States, China, Japan, and South Korea under the theme, “Climate Action and Responsible e-nnovation for Sustainability (ASEAN+3 CAReS)”.

On 7 July 2026, Professor Maranan evaluated student-produced videos that examined climate change, sustainability, and disaster resilience. The competition challenged participating teams to communicate science-based, innovative solutions to environmental issues through multimedia storytelling. Professor  Maranan also joined the Closing Program and Awarding Ceremony on 10 July 2026, where organizers recognized the achievements of participating student delegations.

Professor Maranan’s participation highlights the University of the Philippines Open University’s and FICS’s continuing contribution to international initiatives that advance science communication, sustainability, and youth engagement.
