A 4th year Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies (BAMS) student from the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), is one of the student organizers of the Regen Asia Summit (RAS) held in July this year at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Paulyana Gimel Battung stepped up to the challenge as the Programmes Deputy Director for the first Regen Asia Summit along with 30 other student organizers across Asia. The summit welcomed over 600 participants and 100 speakers, including Singapore President and NUS Chancellor, Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
The Regen Asia Summit is part of NUS’ 120th anniversary celebration where it served as a dynamic platform for student leaders across the ASEAN region to collaborate on ways to address pressing global challenges, particularly socio-environmental issues.
Her student leadership skills were further attested by being selected as a Fellow and Student Councilor at the Asian Undergraduate Symposium (AUS), a venue where participants can develop their ideas into projects with the possibility of receiving seed funding. At the AUS 2025, Battung mentored student teams and discussed the summit’s goals. Currently, she is Co-Chair of the first-ever international AUS Fellowship Society, where she is building a cross-border support network for youth-led initiatives across Asia.
The UP Open University proudly recognizes Paulyana Battung’s achievements in representing the University in a global setting, showcasing the flexibility and impact of open and distance learning.
