Raz S. de la Torre

Assistant Professor of Multimedia and Communication

Raz de la Torre has been a professional storyteller in film and television for over two decades and a dedicated educator since 2012. As a screenwriter, he co-wrote beloved films such as A Very Special Love, and as a director, he helmed the top-rating, award-winning and critically acclaimed primetime series A Soldier’s Heart, The Killer Bride, and Maalaala Mo Kaya—all recognised by the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

A CCP Gawad Alternatibo winner, two-time Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival finalist, two-time PMPC Star Awards nominee, and Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation awardee, Raz has made significant contributions to Philippine cinema and television. He also served as Executive Producer for the NCCA’s Dayaw on ANC and is currently teaching Communication Studies and Broadcast Media Arts at the University of the Philippines. With over 100 million combined views of his work online, Raz brings both heart and discipline to storytelling—whether in the director’s chair, the classroom, or in his current development of a storytelling framework rooted in immersion, observation, and narrative.

Raz earned his Master’s Degree with Distinction in Filmmaking from the London Film School.
