Concepts and techniques in data communications and networking.
COURSE GOALS:
At the end of the course, the student should:
- Be proficient in data communications and networking oriented specifically towards multimedia communications
- Understand multimedia communications and networking with emphasis on the OSI and TCP/IP models and the underlying protocols
- Gain knowledge on the different technologies and architectures that support local and wide area networking
- Understand the principles involved in the exchange of data between two directly connected devices
- Appreciate the different architectural principles and the mechanisms required for the data communications among electronic devices
