The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), through the Decentered Human Communication Research Group of the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS), invites scholars, researchers, students, and practitioners to participate in the hybrid colloquium “Foundations, Ferment, and New Frontiers of CCO: Widening the Conversation” on 15–17 July 2026 at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL), UPOU Headquarters, and via Zoom. The event aims to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the foundations of the Communication as Constitutive of Organization (CCO) perspective, emerging debates and developments in the field, and its applications across various organizational, social, and institutional contexts.

The colloquium will feature Prof. François Cooren of the Université de Montréal, one of the leading scholars in the field of CCO. Papers that draw upon or relate to the CCO perspective can be presented at the Colloquium. Graduate students are encouraged to present their proposal or ongoing thesis or dissertation, as the Colloquium will provide them with a valuable platform to learn from Prof. Cooren and enhance their work. Through this scholarly exchange, participants will have the opportunity to refine their ideas, strengthen their research designs, and explore new directions for applying CCO in diverse contexts.

The colloquium also seeks to foster a growing community of scholars interested in understanding how communication constitutes, shapes, and transforms organizations. By bringing together international expertise and local research initiatives, the event reflects UPOU’s commitment to advancing innovative and interdisciplinary scholarship while creating spaces for dialogue and collaboration among researchers, educators, and practitioners.

The deadline for registration for both onsite and online participation is on 9 July 2026.
