UPOU-PLDT Continues Partnership for the Infoteach Program

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) and the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) along with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the 2014 PLDT Infoteach Program last August 27, 2014.

The PLDT Infoteach is an outreach program which aims to provide basic digital literacy to public school teachers and students. Public school teachers have been awarded scholarships by PLDT to receive IT education from UPOU.

A MOA was also signed between PLDT and the local partners and beneficiaries of the program. The Ceremonial Keys to Success were turned over to the Mayors and SDS.

FICS Dean Receives Alumni Awards

FICS Dean Dr. Melinda Bandalaria was awarded two distinctions from alumni associations this month.

The UPLB Alumni Association Board of Trustees selected Dean Bandalaria to receive the 2014 UPLB Alumni Association Awardee for The Outstanding UPLBAA Alumni Award in Communication Education.

She was also selected to receive the College of Development Communication 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award.

The awarding ceremony will be held on October 9 2014, during the UPLB Alumni Homecoming and Fellowship Night.

Program Chairs for BAMS, DCS and Dcomm Appointed

The Faculty of Information and Communication Studies have recently appointed new program chairs

Former Diploma in Computer Science Program Chair Asst. Prof. Al Francis Librero is now the Program Chair for Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies. Asst. Prof. Joyce Mae Manalo was appointed DCS Program Chair. Meanwhile Dr. Alexander Flor replaces Dr. Melinda Bandalaria as chair of the Doctor of Communication program. 

The appointments are until May 31, 2015.
