FICS Celebrates UPOU's 19th Anniversary with MOOCathon

In line with UPOU's 19th Anniversary Celebration, FICS launches MOOCathon: An Unending Conversation on MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses).

The MOOCathon kicks off on February 26 with a design thinking workshop that aims to gather ideas for an ideal platform for MOOC delivery. UPOU faculty and staff, as well as selected guests, are invited in the said workshop. The workshop will be facilitated by Asst. Prof Diego Maranan.


The output from the said workshop will then be used for the second activity, which is the MOOCathon Codefest. The Codefest is a course-slash-competition that aims to explore e-Learning platforms at the same time lay the groundwork for MOOC platform development. Designers, developers, educators and e-Learning/MOOC enthusiasts are encouraged to participate. The Codefest site can be accessed through http://codefest.upoufics.org.

The top 5 teams in the Codefest will then be invited to the Codefest Camp, a two-day event in which the teams will develop, test and deploy their MOOC Platform. The Codefest Camp will be held at UPOU Headquarters on March 15-16. Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 teams, and one winner will be hailed Codefest champion.
